Scenario Location Alternative 3

As promised, here is the third pitch you can vote for as the location that we will flesh out together during the event.

Next week the poll will be posted on the Facebook group (and I’ll try to get a poll up on the forums here too). It will remain open until the end of of September so you have sufficient time to read and make up your mind about which one you want to vote for and contribute your ideas to.

Without further ado (see also attached as PDF):

Eris

Before the Epstein Drive, a few isolationist communities, scientific missions, and mining ventures came to Eris and Dysnomia. Fewer got to leave. People still come here, for work, isolation, and to escape.

Today, Kallisti station (“Golden Apple” among the oldest families) occupies buried chambers beneath the bright methane ice. Every litre of water, every filter, and every hour of reactor life comes with a cost. Supply ships are scarce, communication rarely receives any response, and contracts depend on locals trading favours in bars, side corridors, or out on the ice.

Into this death-defying colonial effort, fledgling conglomerate Cydonia Interplanetary (CI) stepped, led by administrator Angelica Schumoff. CI’s surveys suggested valuable metals beneath the ice and accessible stores of nitrogen and methane on both Eris and Dysnomia. CI promised new equipment, regular shipping and secure employment, and began modernising as they started to build the Cydonia Eris Complex. Other organisations followed.

Eris’ residents slowly became contractors owing these inner corporations for air, housing and passage, and out here the OPA’s gaze has rarely fallen. The population is small and work is geographically spread out. Everyone depends on somebody.
